Achchana (“A.C.”) Ranasinghe is a litigator at Brown, LLC who represents employees in complex employment disputes, including collective and class actions involving wage theft, employee misclassification, overtime violations, and other unlawful workplace practices.

Before joining Brown, LLC, A.C. served as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of New Jersey, where he litigated labor and employment matters on behalf of state agencies and public universities. In that role, he frequently represented the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development in enforcement actions against companies accused of employee misclassification and wage-and-hour violations.

A.C. also brings experience from private practice, where he represented corporate clients in complex litigation matters including employment disputes, mass tort litigation, commercial disputes, environmental claims, products liability actions, and insurance coverage matters.

He has extensive appellate experience and has litigated dozens of appeals before courts including the Superior Court of New Jersey – Appellate Division, the Supreme Court of New Jersey, and the Supreme Court of the United States. In addition to appellate work, A.C. has secured favorable outcomes for clients in trials, in arbitrations, and in administrative proceedings before the Public Employment Relations Commission, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Civil Service Commission, and the Office of Administrative Law.

A.C. earned his J.D. from New York University School of Law, where he served as a Staff Editor and Staff Development Editor for the New York University Review of Law and Social Change. He was also Treasurer of the Prisoners Rights and Education Project. While at NYU, he was a member of the team that won the university’s intramural basketball league.
