The allegations were that pain management specialist and the two entities submitted medically unnecessary claims for presumptive and definitive urine drug tests, laboratory charges that should not have been billed (urine drug tests), moderate sedation services, and for providing expensive back braces that were normally ineligible for reimbursement to patients. As part of the settlement, the relators will receive a combined payment of $1.26 million as a whistleblower reward.
